Local Studies

The Local Studies department has a wealth of material about Longford including a large collection of publications stretching back to 1886, when the first books about the county were published! It also holds a major collection of local newspapers both on microfilm and in hardcopy. In addition, the department has an impressive collection of books about Ireland, including many important works of reference.

Local Publications

There is a broad range of books about the county and its history. Subjects covered include parishes and places, politics, sport, literature, and biographies and autobiographies. 

The Monsignor John V. Sheridan Collection, on loan from County Longford Historical Society, consists of local books and publications on many aspects of Ireland.
