Castle Nugent lies in the Barony of Ardagh, on the road from Abbeylara to Edgeworthstown. Contains 500a. 3r. 21p.
The N. end is bog; the rest is tillage and grass land. It is subdivided into several farms. The demesnes of Moorhill and Castle Nugent are situated in it, and in
the latter is the site of an old castle, whence the td. derives its name.
