Heritage Council Grant Schemes

Each year, the Heritage Council calls for applications for funding for heritage projects under the Heritage Council Grants Programme. The Heritage Council allocates around €1 million of National Lottery funding towards their public grant schemes. These are typically:

  • Community Grants
  • Heritage Management/Maintenance Grants
  • Thatching Repair Grant
  • Grant Scheme for the Museum Standards Programme of Ireland participants
  • Conservation of Traditional Farm Buildings, under GLAS agri-environment programme.

One or more of these grant schemes are run each year, dependent on resources. 

How to apply

Requests for application forms and information should be made in writing only to The Heritage Council, Roth House, Kilkenny or alternatively information and application forms are available on the Funding page of the Heritage Council website. This is an online application process only. Details for each years grants scheme will be posted on this site as soon as they become available, which is typically within the first three months of the year (January - March), but it may occur at any time of the year. .
