Culture Night 2024 Funding
Culture Night takes place on Friday, 20 September, kicking off at 4pm. This annual and all-island celebration of culture, creativity and the arts aims to promote our rich and varied culture which is treasured and nurtured in people’s lives.
Special and unique events and workshops are specifically programmed at participating locations and thanks to the continued support of the Arts Council and local Authorities across the island of Ireland, all activities are made available to the public free of charge.
Organise a Culture Night 2024 Event
Funding is now available for organising Culture Night 2024 events. Creative practitioners and artists, not-for-profit organisations, local community groups, an arts, heritage and cultural groups, venues, and societies in County Longford are encouraged to apply with their proposals for events.
Events should aim to show the value that art, culture and creativity bring to our lives. Events should also provide a platform and exposure for cultural organisations, activities, facilities and community groups. This could include opening a venue or organisation to the public which may otherwise be closed at that time of day. It may also include creating an event that reminds us about the fantastic local cultural facilities and resources. Areas of particular interest for events include:
- A late-night programme of performance art (9pm until late).
- Heritage and Irish language events, including specific proposals for events that interact with County Longford's natural, built and/or cultural heritage
- Events that celebrate new communities and underrepresented voices. Events should promote and connect artists from marginalised backgrounds and showcase the culturally diverse communities living in the county, which may include (but are not limited to):
- asylum seekers, refugees and migrants
- D/deaf culture or arts and disability
- Irish Traveller culture
- Those promoting gender equality
- Under-represented groups
- Events organised by or in collaboration with young people.
Funding
County Longford Arts Service has a limited grant fund available to support individuals or organisations with the delivery of their event. - Be free
- Be registered through Longford Arts Service and uploaded to CultureNight.ie
- Embrace the Arts Council’s Pay the Artist policy and ensure that all engaged artists and practitioners are paid unless participating in a voluntary capacity or as part of a community group.
- Be open to all and seek to create a sense of community and belonging
