Eligibility Criteria
The mentoring award is for individual film makers and their work plans taking place in 2025 in the pursuit of training and mentoring.
Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 20 December 2024. No late applications will be considered.
Scoring criteria
Applicants are scored against four key criteria:
- Quality of existing work and application (50%) As evidenced by your application demonstrating why you want to undertake the mentorship, your artist's CV; and up to 3 examples of previous work.
- Relevance and timeliness of proposal to the development of your practice (50%) As evidenced by your recent achievements, a general overview of your main interests and ambitions and the reason you wish to pursue this mentorship at this time and the impact you hope it will have.
Arts Bursary FAQs
Do I need to live in the Longford County Council Administrative Area?
You do not need to live in County Longford to be eligible.
Can I apply for more than one award?
Yes, you can apply for all County Longford Arts awards. The Film Mentoring Award is for the development of your film making practice.
How many Bursary Awards will there be in 2025?
There will be one award in 2025.
Can I choose my own mentor if I receive the award?
No. Harp Media are the chosen mentor for the 2025 award.
If I receive the award, can I defer it for a year?
No. The award must be initiated no later than May 2025.
Are subsistence or travel costs eligible?
Subsistence costs such as daily per diems or work-related travel costs are not eligible under the Award. A once-off payment of €500 will be made to the mentee to cover all mentorship expenses.
How long is the mentorship for?
The mentorship period must be no less than 6 months and no longer than 12 months.
What does the mentorship comprise of?
The mentorship comprises of:
- An assessment process where Mentor / Mentee together identify areas of work, specific skills and experiences that will be included in the mentorship.
- A minimum of six structured mentoring sessions based on topics identified by Mentor / Mentee.
- Work experience with the Mentor.
Will this Mentoring Award funding support be repeated?
It is hoped that the Mentoring Award will be repeated annually but at present it is conditional on year-to-year funding.
Can I apply for the mentoring award every year?
Yes, unsuccessful applicants can apply every year. Successful Awardees can only apply once.
How many supporting samples of work should I include?
A maximum of three examples of your work can be included. Be selective, put in examples of practice and clearly label what these examples relate to help your application.
