The BHIS 2024 in County Longford

The Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) 2024 is closed for this year.

The Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2024 is now open for applications. This scheme provides capital funding for works to qualifying structure which include the following:

  1. Protected structures (listed on the Record of Protected Structures)
  2. Proposed protected structures (proposed to be listed on the Record of Protected Structures)
  3. Structures in Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs), or within the amenity of a National Monument

To find out if your building is included within the Longford County Council's Record of Protected Structures. For the current listings please visit Record of Protected Structures (RPS) in the Longford County Development Plan 2021-2027 (Volume Two Appendix, Appendix Six). This includes both the RPS and associated maps:

  • Recorded Monuments under Preservation Order in County Longford
  • Record of Monuments and Places (RMP) in County Longford
  • Recorded Monuments in State Ownership in County Longford
  • List of Record of Protected Structures
  • Longford County Architectural Conservation Areas (Battery Road ACA and Ardagh Village ACA)

The Record of Protected Structures includes the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) registration number which should be included in the application form.

Closing Dates

Please email the completed application form, checklist and supporting documents to heritage@longfordcoco.ie prior to Wednesday 24 January 2024. 

Include BHIS 2024 and the name of your structure in the Subject Line of the email, otherwise the application form may not be reviewed on time. 

Please do not send to any other email address. 

Successful applicants will be notified likely in March or April 2024. Grant-aided works should not commence before this time. The works must commence before August 2024 and be completed by the first week of October 2024.
