Is situated in Lough Ree near the centre of the td. of Cashel, to which it is attached by a narrow isthmus.
It is along promontory, about 17 chains in length, and scarcely at any time more than 1� chains in breadth. It lies parallel to, and within 3 chains of, the coast, to which it is attached by a narrow isthmus, and forms what is called Sir Georges Harbour. It is nearly all under water during floods.
