Longford Arts

LongfordLibrary.ie is now home to Longford Arts. 

Longford Arts works to support, promote and build capacity within the arts sector in County Longford. This includes exposing students and young people to the arts for their enjoyment, learning and to inspire their future possibilities.

This looking forward to the future also includes the development of the County Longford Arts Strategy 2023-2027, as well as other plans to elevate the arts in Longford. 

Supporting Local Artists and the Community

Longford Arts seeks funding for local artists to allow the community to benefit from their creative work. This includes various bursaries, grants and mentoring programmes throughout the year. 

Putting Longford first for arts also includes Longford Arts helping to drive forward local events including Culture Night, Longford Lights and the Dead of Night Festival. These events attract people into the county and Longford Town - over 11,000 visited us to see the Longford Lights. In this way, arts is actively helping local businesses, supporting tourism and boosting pride in our locality. 

Building Excellence 

Longford Arts has been shortlisted for Festival of the Year at the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2023 for Longford Lights, with the award ceremony set to take place in November 2023. 

Longford Lights was also shortlisted in the Best Creativity in the Community section of the Business to Arts Awards.
