Street Spectacle Training with Spraoi

County Longford Arts Office invites applicants to participate in a four-day training workshop to develop a greater understanding and skills of Street Spectacle Making and Spectacle Performance. This training is part of Longford County Council's capacity building and development of the Dead of Night Festival and the Fire and Shadows Procession for Halloween 2025.

The training will be delivered by Spraoi, the much-celebrated Waterford-based spectacle production company. The training will be focused on skilling artists in design, prop making, costuming and street performance. Participants will be paid an honorarium of €140 to attend.

Workshop Dates

All training workshops will take place in Longford Town, from 10am to 5pm daily on: 

  • Wednesday, 14 and Thursday, 15 May, and
  • Saturday, 14 and Sunday, 15 June

Requirements

The ideal participant will be:

  • An artist or maker with prior experience in spectacle or community arts
  • Reside in the Longford region or surrounding counties
  • Have an interest in further developing skills in street spectacle-making and performing

Participants must also be:

  • Available to attend all four workshop days
  • 18 years old or older
  • Able to understand instruction delivered in English as all workshops will be delivered in the English language
  • Able to engage in moderate physical activities and tasks which will form part of the training workshops
