Longford Lights Community Participation Programme

Longford Lights is held in Longford Town, every February and is the largest community-based light festival in the country. It consists of light installations, projections, performances and events. An Artistic Director leads a team of experienced artists to engage community groups, local artists and volunteers to create collaborative works through the medium of light. Longford Lights is produced by Mide Arts Group in partnership with Longford County Council.

Each year over 2000 citizens from County Longford and the wider region participate in Longford Lights. This includes a broad spectrum of schools, community groups and youth groups. Communities participate by working with professional artists in making artworks such as lanterns, performances, and by volunteering.
