Final touches as Longford prepares for this year's Dead of Night Festival 2024

Celebrate Halloween with activities happening across the Bank Holiday Weekend

Press Release: Monday, 21 October 2024

The return of the Dead of Night Festival for 2024 is set to take over Longford Town for the entire Bank Holiday Weekend.

It all kicks off with Samhain Town Family Fun on Saturday and Sunday, 26 and 27 October, taking place in Connolly Barracks from 12noon each day. Pick your pumpkin in the Pumpkin Patch and decorate it in the Craft Tent. Those in need of a scare can visit the haunted house if they dare!

Kids can also enjoy facepainting, climbing wall, and archery or make their way to the Entertainment Tent for the snake charmer, puppet show, street performers and singing with Kyle Riley. There will also be coffee and food carts to keep everyone feed and hydrated! Tickets are essential, visit TicketTailor.ie via the link on Longfordcoco.ie's homepage.

The weekend of spookiness culminates in the Fire and Shadows Procession on Monday, 28 October, starting at 7pm. Starting off in Earl Street, otherworldly and mythical creatures will stalk their way into the night towards Connolly Barrack. Once there, there will be a spectacular bonfire finale with live DJ and live entertainment. The Fire and Shadows Procession is supported Spraoi Street Theatre and local artists and funded by Fáilte Ireland.

The Dead of Night Festival 2024 is brought to you by Longford County Council, Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Fáilte Ireland.

Further Halloween Activities with Longford's Nighttime Economy

In conjunction with the Longford Nighttime Economy programme, many other events are taking place across the long weekend from Friday, 25 October. These include fancy dress and Halloween tunes in Eddie Valentines, PVs, Andy Byrnes, Lyon's Bar, and the Tallyho Bar. Longford's Nighttime Economy proudly supports Longford's Dead of Night Festival 2024.
