This townland lies N. and S. of the River Inny, and is surrounded by the townlands of Abbeyshrule, Drumanure and Ratharney in this parish, by the townlands of Castlewilder and Agharra in Agharra Parish, and by the td. of Ballymaglavy in the parish of Piercetown, Co. Westmeath.
This townland is the property of the Countess Dowager of Ross, held by deed for ever. It contains 442 acres, of which 17 acres are water. About four-seventh of the land surface is cultivated; the remainder is bog. The Royal Canal runs through it, on which is Quin's Bridge.
