This parish lies in the S.W. corner of the barony of Abbeyshrule. It is bounded on the W. and N. by Shrule Ph.; on the E. by the parish of Forgney; and on the S. by the County of Westmeath (Ballymore and Noughaval Phs.).
That part of this parish in the County Longford contains 3,527a. Or. 22p., all under cultivation except 180 acres of bog and rough ground 38a. 2r. 9p. of the water of the River Inny. Part of Ballymahon and two Gentleman's seats are in this parish.
