Arts Project Awards 2024

Longford County Council Arts Project Awards 2024 helps local artists and arts organisations in the development of their artistic practice. The award is to help with projects planned for the coming year that have significant artistic and cultural goals. This may include developmental work, festivals, events, projects, training and vocational support for artists and community development outcomes through quality arts actions or processes with an overarching emphasis on artistic quality, artistic ambition and inclusivity.

Applicants can apply for project grant awards up to 5pm on Friday, 1 March. Minimum award €1000. Maximum award €5,000. Find more information on how to apply by reading our Arts Project Guidance Document.

Eligibility Criteria

A full list of eligibility criteria is available on the Arts Project Award 2024 application form, and includes the following:

  • The award is for individual artists and organisations planning work taking place in 2024 in the areas of festivals, events, projects, training and community development outcomes
  • The main focus of the proposal must be based on the pursuit of artistic principles and objectives
  • Applications can come from artistic and civil society organisations or individuals and can work in any art form

Applications must be submitted by 5pm on 1 March. No late applications will be considered.

Scoring criteria

  1. Quality and Artistic Ambition of the Project Proposed (50%): As evidenced by:
    1. Artistic ambition and quality of the Project idea
    2. Involvement and track record of the professional Artists(s) involved
  2. Feasibility of the Project in Confirmed and Potential Resources (50%): As evidenced by:
    1. Technical achievability (Can your Project or Programme be realised in 2024 with the Financial and other resources you expect to have)
    2. Letters of support or confirmation of funding
    3. Ability to secure at least 30% of the total funding required from other sources. Failure to provide evidence of this makes the application immediately invalid
    4. An identified audience and a clear marketing and sales plan to reach that audience
    5. Clear budget including equitable payment to artists

Assessment process

All applications must be submitted online no later than 5pm, Thursday 1 March 2024.

  • No applications will be accepted later than this date and time.
  • Your application will be processed by members of the Arts Office Administrative team. Any applications that fall outside the eligibility guidelines and criteria may be eliminated at this point. Longford Council reserves the right to redirect applications for consideration to appropriate categories other than those applied for, should it be deemed beneficial to the applicant to so do. 
  • All applications will be assessed by the Assessment Team (which consists of two independent assessors). Letters of offer will be issued to all applicants by mid-March.

Terms and conditions

  • The public presentation (or parts thereof) of your application must take place in County Longford. The company/organisation, artist or team shall ensure that there is compliance with all statutory requirements and local authority bye-laws including adherence to Child Protection Policy.
  • Longford County Council is subject to provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) 1997, 2003. If you consider that any information supplied by you is either commercially sensitive or confidential, this should be highlighted and the reasons for sensitivity specified. In such cases, the relevant material will, in response to an FOI request, be examined in the light of the exemptions provided for in the Acts.
