Longford Heritage Initiatives Scheme 2026

Longford County Council Heritage Office invites costed Expressions of Interest from community groups, heritage organisations and other interested parties for heritage projects and events to be delivered in partnership with Longford County Council, subject to the availability of funding.

The Heritage Office is seeking Expressions of Interest for projects and events that further knowledge, understanding and appreciation of our shared heritage. Proposed initiatives should promote research, increase public awareness and encourage engagement with Longford's heritage.

Projects or events based on one or more of the following themes may be considered:

1. Cultural Heritage – including traditions, history, music, crafts and skills.
2. Built Heritage – including archaeology, industrial heritage and transport heritage.
3. Natural Heritage – including historic landscapes, biodiversity and climate change mitigation.
4. National Heritage Week 2026 (15–23 August 2026) – theme: Heritage at Risk.
5. Tionscnaimh agus imeachtaí trí Ghaeilge, nó a bhfuil dhá-theangach (projects and events delivered through Irish or bilingually).

The scheme also supports projects and events taking place as part of National Heritage Week 2026, which will be held from Saturday 15 August to Sunday 23 August 2026.

Please note: Funding requests for book publications will not typically be supported under this grant stream.
